Little River Rail Trail Background

The Rail Trail operated from 1875 until 1967 and was used by farmers to get meat and produce to the markets. It runs from Hornby, Christchurch to Little River alongside farmland, Lake Ellesmere, and Lake Forsyth. There is much in the way of wildlife, and the scenery is stunning. 

The Christchurch to Little River Rail Trail Trust is a registered charity. Formed in 2004 it's main aim is to develop, establish and maintain the trails along the Rail Trail for walkers and cyclists. You are able to support this wonderful trust when you enter, by way of donation. We hope you support this wonderful group of people!
