Enter the 30KM and enjoy a flat and scenic course from Birdlings Flat to the village of Lincoln. The event starts from the entrance to Kaitorete Spit and takes you straight on to the flat packed gravel of the Rail Trail.
Once you begin you get to enjoy the surrounding farmland as you head towards to edges of Lake Ellesmere. This section sees you crossing foot bridges, experiencing the diverse birdlife, and enjoying views of the surrounding wetlands and farmland. This part of the railway embankment is raised and allows you great views of the area as you run.
As you come into Motukarara you will pass the train station and then head onto sealed road for a section. This part of the Rail Trail is now away from the water and takes you alongside the rich soils of Selwyn and the busy farms that make up this part of the district. You will run alongside the water as you head along River Road, a stunning section of country lane before you pop out near the Lincoln Wetlands.
The final section of the 30KM course is within the Lincoln Village. You get to run past the Lincoln Wetlands, as well as weaving your way through the Liffey walkways underneath trees and alongside fresh springs. You then come out right in the middle of the Lincoln Village and take the final stretch to the Finish Line at the Lincoln Domain.
The 30KM Trail Run is a great distance - a step up from the traditional half marathon, and a nice in-between distance to the marathon. The course is flat and scenic and takes you from the edges of the South Pacific Ocean, all the way to the outskirts of Christchurch City.
Competitors are required to take a bus to the start line. Buses will be departing Lincoln Domain and taking competitors to Bayleys Road, in time for the Race Briefing.
There is no parking available at Bayleys Road. Bus fares are included in the Entry Fee.
